We are a group of active Democrats affiliated with the Democratic Farmer Labor Party (DFL) in Minnesota.
The DFL Feminist Caucus was founded in 1973, the same year that the US Supreme Court issued its landmark decision Roe v. Wade, which acknowledged a woman's constitutional right to safe and legal abortions. The founding principles of the caucus outlined a broad mission to advocate for a number of progressive and good governance issues. In the following decades the caucus made progress on this mission, and the DFL continued to grow and add a number of other caucuses dedicated to advancing many of the same causes.
In 2023, in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that undid reproductive freedom protections, the Feminist Caucus reconstituted. The founding principles serve as a strong bedrock for today's focus on protecting and advancing reproductive freedom and electing candidates who will champion women in office.
