We are a group of active Democrats affiliated with the Democratic Farmer Labor Party (DFL) in Minnesota.
The DFL Feminist Caucus was founded in 1973, the same year that the US Supreme Court issued its landmark decision Roe v. Wade, which acknowledged a woman's constitutional right to safe and legal abortions. The founding principles of the caucus outlined a broad mission to advocate for a number of progressive and good governance issues. In the following decades the caucus made progress on this mission, and the DFL continued to grow and add a number of other caucuses dedicated to advancing many of the same causes.
In 2023, in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that undid reproductive freedom protections, the Feminist Caucus reconstituted. The founding principles serve as a strong bedrock for today's focus on protecting and advancing reproductive freedom and electing candidates who will champion women in office.

Founding Principles
We support the traditional constitutional principles embodied in the Bill of Rights, with emphasis on freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and separation of church and state.
We support the Federal Equal Rights Amendment and implementing legislation.
We support human rights legislation and strict enforcement of anti-discrimination laws.
We support the 1973 Supreme Court decision on abortion and its implementation.
We support birth control research, education, and policies that make contraceptives available to all who want them.
We support comprehensive child care services.
We support policies that ensure at least adequate food, housing, and healthcare for all.
We support economic justice for women in the labor force and the home.
We support a reordering of priorities at all levels of government to allocate more resources to human needs and to protection of the environment.
We support party reforms that democratize political parties.
We support feminists for elective office and appointive offices at all levels.
We support actively (as a caucus or as individuals) only those candidates who support these principles.
